Internal Medicine

Dr. Sarah Werbel received her medical degree from University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Following medical school, Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City invited Dr. Werbel to join their department of Internal Medicine as a resident. Intrigued by the disproportionate prevalence of obesity and obesity related disease around the hospital, Dr. Werbel launched a study to address the psychosocial factors that contribute to obesity. Her project was lauded by the department and the results are certainly more relevant today than when the study was initiated.

After residency, Dr Werbel moved across town to Columbia’s College of Physicians and Surgeons. She joined the Internal Medicine faculty, educating interns and residents as well as serving as the Clinical Director at the student health service. Dr. Werbel has lectured extensively on topics in women’s health.

After relocating to New Jersey Dr. Werbel co-founded Lawrenceville Internal Medicine in order to continue her commitment to the practice of evidence-based medicine, that is medicine based on the most current scientific literature. Dr. Werbel enjoys the diversity and mysteries of general internal medicine. Her areas of interest within general medicine include preventive medicine as well as women’s health.

In her spare time, Dr Werbel enjoys relaxing with her husband and two daughters, running, biking, and gardening.
